CentOS-GPT with GUI, Firefox, Chromium and Opera for VirtualBox (Centos Minimal v2) MD5 checksum: 4cda2844772a85abf902abec45571227 This is 7-zip compressed self-extracting archive containing 6GB dynamically resized CentOS virtual disk file for VirtualBox. It has Gnome GUI, Firefox, Chromium and Opera preinstalled. You need a minimum of 512MB RAM to extract it. To add virtual machine: - run VirtualBox, - access menu Machine and pick Add, - navigate to the place where You extracted Your self-extracting archive and double click the file on list, - machine should be now visible on the list in main window, double click it to run. Changes: - this version was re-designed from scratch, - skipped additional desktop groups installation, You can always decide to install them by Yourself, - no pre-installed VirtualBox Additions - they didn't work anyway and license states that every private user needs to install them by themselfes, - replaced Chrome with Chriomium because it's more transparent and doesn't install garbage dependencies that You don't really need, - got rid of NetworkManager since it can break things and setting it up on virtual machine can be a pain, - simplified it - less things to change, install, - 2.19GB disk image and smaller 426MB compressed size, - 6GB disk that gets dinamically resized if You install new things (4GB previously), - made self-extracing 7-zip archive, so You don't need 7-zip installed anymore, - System updated with yum update on 16.02.2014. It is made for GPT earners to help them test various browsers or carry their saved profiles in virtualbox image file or even clone and run from pendrive. All browsers are fresh, they don't contain any plugins. Operating System DOES NOT use external/DHCP IP. It uses VirtualBox NAT adapter. To use it install Virtualbox from www.virtualbox.org, extract archive, run vbox extension file and virtualbox manager should pop-up. Double Click CentOS-GPT and it will start booting. By default it uses VirtualBox Host-Only Network card, 512MB RAM and 2 cores. Terminal fonts look ugly: [01-fix_Terminal_Fonts.txt] 1. Run Terminal from Applications->System Tools menu, 2. Type this command and press enter: yum install terminus-fonts terminus-fonts-console, 3. Answer yes to all questions, type exit when done. Make Your mouse freely move inside and outside of Virtual Machine window without the need of pressing right-CTRL as well as changing of resolution by resizing window: [02-Additions_For_Free_Resolution_and_Mouse.txt] [03-Additions_For_Free_Resolution_and_Mouse.png] [04-Additions_For_Free_Resolution_and_Mouse.png] [05-Additions_For_Free_Resolution_and_Mouse.png] 1. Run Terminal from Applications->System Tools menu, 2. Type this command and press enter: yum install kernel-devel kernel-headers gcc, 3. Answer yes to all questions, type exit when done, 4. Go to Devices menu of Your VIRTUALBOX window host (the menu above Applications | Places | System) and pick Insert Guest Additions CD image, 5. If it tells You that You don't have it, simply download it from virtualbox.org and run then do step 4 again, 6. Pick OK and Run as on screenshots and wait, 7. When it tells You that it's finished then reboot virtual machine. Additional fixes: [06-fix_FF_about_config.txt]: in firefox address bar type about:config and change these values to how they are visible in this file. (after noscript installation) [07-fix_slow_network.txt]: these commands need to be run in terminal, so do steps 1-3 but in step 2 type in those 2 commands.
